Bad at Titles

The beginnings of my The Banner Saga crest: HOUSE WULFGRIFF.  FAIR WINDS AND GOOD HUNTING!

I’m not happy with it quite yet.  As a mild perfectionist/hobby HibernoNorse re-creationist it’s hard to find a balance between the highly detailed knots and latices and swirls of the various stages of art development that happened in the Scandinavian, Anglo-Saxon, and Celtic cultures and the stark iconic style the creators want for the best showing in-game.  I’m finding it really hard to resist the urge to fill in all that negative space with more detail to make it more “authentic” than anything else.

But, I am really adamant about the rubber-jaw. :P  Talk about iconic, just about all the animal art done in that period had rubber-jaws if not EXTENDO-rubber-jaws (that were then latticed in with other extendo-rubber-jaws or some other motif in the piece).  I think when I get home tonight I’ll pull out my books and stare cross eyed at some knotwork animals again for a few hours.  Of course, suggestions from the artist’s peanut gallery are always welcome. :)
